Community Awareness Emergency Response
Wednesday, March 15, 2000, the C.A.E.R. group
began distribution of 275 free weather radios to local schools,
nursing homes, government emergency response organizations, day
care facilities, hospitals, Salvation Army, Red Cross, Boys Haven,
Girls Haven, and Buckner facilities.
The radios broadcast emergency weather statements
and carry all messages that are released as part of the Emergency
Alert System. Distribution will be through local fire and emergency
management departments.
C.A.E.R. members Doug Drawhorn and Brian Schmidt join L.E.P.C. Chairman Kenneth
Browning, and Beaumont Fire Chief Mickey Bertrand, in presenting a weather
radio to Margaret Lanier, College Street Nursing Center Administrator.
